Easterly Chamber PlayersThe four members of this ensemble have extensive careers on their own, including performances with the Nittany Valley Symphony and the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing in concerts in Nevada, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. The group commissioned a piece composed by Trygve Madsen titled "The Homage to Francis Poulenc", which you will hear in this broadcast.

Brent RegisterBrent Register, oboe
Mr. Register is a professor of music at Clarion University and serves as the Assistant Director of the Clarion University Honors Program. He is also involved with the Clarion University Theatre, which has resulted in a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Mr. Register also plays the English Horn and has performed with the Nittany Valley Symphony and the Altoona Symphony Orchestra. During his career, he has performed solos in New York City, Boston, Oslo, and Milan.

Brent Register received his Bachelor of Music Education and Doctor of Musical Arts in Oboe performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Music degree for English Horn peformance from the Manhattan School of Music.

Diane Gold ToulsonDiane Gold Toulson, flute
Ms. Gold is a member of the music faculty at Bucknell University, as well as the Music Academy in State College. She received a Bachelor of Music degree and holds a Master's degree from Columbia University. In addition to performing across the Unitest States and Europe, she has given master classes in the Southwest, in Philadelphia, in the Netherlands, and at Oxford University in England.

Ms. Gold is principal flute of the Altoona, Nittany Valley, and York Symphony Orchestras and has appeared with the Amado String Quartet, the New Philadelphia String Quartet, and the Alard Quartet.

Smith ToulsonSmith Toulson, clarinet
Mr. Toulson is a professor of clarinet at Penn State University and a member of the Pennsylvania Quintet, the faculty wind chamber music ensemble in the School of Music. He is principal clarinet with the Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra, the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, and the Nittany Valley Symphony. In addition, he plays the bass clarinet with the York Symphony.

Smith Toulson has also performed in Washington, D.C.'s National Gallery, New York's 92nd Street YMHA Concert Series, and the Weill Recital Hall in New York City. In June 2004, he appeared in the Smithsonian series in a seminar about the works of Francis Poulenc performing Poulenc's "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano."

Paula AmrodPaula Amrod, piano
Dr. Amrod is a professor of music and has been a faculty member at Clarion University since 1981 teaching applied piano, classical piano, keyboard literature, and various lecture courses. Recently she performed a solo recital at the Steinway Society Concert Series in Pittsburgh, and chamber performances at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association music series, and the National Flute Convention in Chicago, IL and Las Vegas, NV.

Dr. Amrod received the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and the Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Memphis. She earned her Doctor of Music in Piano Literature and Pedagogy degree from Indiana University-Bloomington.
